around the country. stand by to learn more about edith and carolyn, who solved the case of the missing votes. we want to welcome our viewers in the united states and around the world. i'm wolf blitzer, you're in the "situation room." tuesday's new hampshire primary is just around the corner. get this, the dramatic anticipation is building for the republican presidential candidates. the first southern showdown will take place on january 21st, our new cnn poll is the first snapshot of support in south carolina, taken after the squeaker in iowa this past week. look at this, mitt romney now has an 18 point lead in the state of south carolina, which wasn't seen necessarily as all that friendly of a place for him. rick santorum has shot into number two in south carolina after his near victory in iowa. romney has an even wider lead in new hampshire, where his closest rival at least right now is ron paul. rick santorum has gained ground in new hampshire as well, his support climbing into the double digits. cnn's dan lothian is joining us from new hampshire, covering the story for us. what's th

this will be my first election. host: thank you for calling us today. new hampshire, carolyn is calling us. did you see the event or did you watch it on tv? caller: i was watching it on channel 16, but then i drove up town to see what the parking situation was and then we decided to come back home. host: well, there was quite a crowd here so you probably had the warmer of the two choices. did you come out because you support him or have you made up your mind? caller: i have made up my mind, and it is jon huntsman. i met rick santorum last night. he is personal and pleasant. he is too far right on social issues for me. one of the other concerns i have, one of the reasons i like huntsman and romney too is there executive experience. i feel santorum does not have that kind of management experience that i feel is very important. huntsman also has great international experience. i just wanted to call in and let you know how i was -- host: tell us how your candidate is doing with voters here in new hampshire. do you think he is connecting? caller: people i talked to when i say i am supporting huntsma
